The struggle for independence is more than charts, trends, and abstract academic theories. It is the story of what Patrick Henry labeled “wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty!”

The tour includes participate in several hands-on stations, a soldier’s ration of lemonade, cornbread, cheese, an apple and dried beef, and participate in a mock battle, a recreation of the 1775 Battle of St. George’s Tavern. We recommend you visit the Bakery, General Store, of Hawk’s Head Publick House in the morning to pre-order your lunch, pies etc. or feel free to pack your own lunch to supplement the ration.

Re-live that great struggle at Riley's Farm and bring the American Revolution alive!

Core Virtue Book Drive

In addition to curriculum sale, we are hosting a Core Virtue Book Drive!

Our academy has traditionally relied on the local libraries to supply these books, as there has not been a designated budget for purchasing them directly. Over the last 2 years, we’ve noticed many libraries are no longer carrying some of our cherished Core Virtue books and Site Directors are having difficulties obtaining them for our Morning Gathering lesson.

We’re now asking families to help us build our collection!

If you have any of these books at home, or would like to purchase and donate a title from our Core Virtue Book List, we would be incredibly grateful. Every book helps preserve the heart of our program and enriches our students.

Please consider contributing from the lists below (Next year we will work off of year 2 list):

You are welcome to drop off any book donations in the office or bring them to the Used Curriculum Sale, where we will have a donation bin set up.

Thank you for supporting our community and helping us preserve these treasured stories!
